CHHM Trainee Accolades: 3rd Annual Trainee Poster Day
The Annual Trainee Poster Day was held at the Centre for Hip Health and Mobility (CHHM) on Friday, April 9, 2010. The goals of this event were twofold: 1) academic - trainees to present posters, to give and receive feedback, all within a supportive environment and 2) social - to foster an environment of discussion and collaboration for trainees, associates, and fellows.
The event began with a keynote address from Professor Heather McKay, CHHM Director, followed by a tour of the Mobile Research Laboratory.
Drs. Pierre Guy and Peter Cripton shared some exciting results of their latest projects relating to the abstracts that have recently been submitted to the European Orthopaedic Research Society annual meeting. Seth Gilchrist and Ben Helgason joined us by Skype from Switzerland to answer questions and gain feedback from our trainees and faculty back in Vancouver.
Poster presentations were divided into two sessions in which trainees presented their posters and shared their results with their peers and mentors. Dr. Anne Wallis provided an overview of CHHM operations with updates on the new building and MRI project to cap the event.
Congratulations to all participants and special thanks go to the CHHM Trainee Committee (Cynthia MacDonald, Harpreet Chhina, Vidula Bhole, Sarah Braid; and Faculty Liaison: Dr. Maureen Ashe) - a total of 30 posters were presented and there were over 50 attendees. Trainees commented that the Poster Day provided great opportunities to discuss their research, to share new ideas, and to develop new collaborations.
