Dr. Garbuz is Professor and Head of the Division of Lower Limb Reconstruction and Oncology at Vancouver General Hospital and the University of British Columbia. His practice is confined to adult hip and knee replacement. He has a special interest in complex revision surgery of the hip and knee He has a master’s degree in health care and Epidemiology. He is the former President of the Canadian Arthroplasty Society.

Dr Garbuz has published over 130 articles on various topics in hip and knee replacement. He has been invited to give 100s of lectures locally, nationally and internationally on various topics related to hip and knee replacement. He has been awarded the prestigious Charnley award and Stincthfield award from the hip society on 4 occasions for outstanding research. In 2015 he was awarded the presidential award of excellence from the Canadian Orthopaedic Association.. Dr Garbuz was awarded the Sir John Charnley Commemorative Gold Medal in 2015 after his Charnley Address to the British Orthopaedic Association

Dr Garbuz is a member of the hip society, knee society and international hip society. He currently is in the presidential line for the hip society and will be president of this prestigious society in 2024.
